Employee Benefits AssistantThe New York State Senate is seeking applications for a motivated, organized and detail oriented individual to fill a position in our Personnel Office Employee Benefits Assistant. The professional for this role will be responsible for creating a positive environment for our employees, both in person and over the phone.
Responsibilities in this dynamic role include (but are not limited to):
Advising employees on all benefit issues related to health insurance, life insurance, retirement, long term disability, deferred compensation, dental and vision care coverage.
Acting as a liaison between employees and NYS Department of Civil Service, NYS Employees' Retirement System, NYS Deferred Compensation Plan, Davis Vision Care Plan and numerous Health Insurance carriers.
Ensure enrollment and changes to all benefits are processed timely and accurately using two enrollment systems.
Resolve claim issues with all benefit carriers.
Prepare correspondence on behalf of employees.
Advocate and provide support for employees in matters that are highly personal and confidential.
To move forward, you must have:
An associate's degree or higher
Experience working in a Personnel Office setting
Excellent communication skills
A strong attention to detail
Ability to be a team player.
The most qualified candidates will have experience with:
Health Benefits Administration (HBA)
New York Benefits Eligibility and Accounting System (NYBEAS)
New York State & Local Retirement System (NYSLRS online)
Salary range is $50,000 to $55,000, commensurate with education and experience. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to jobs@nysenate.gov.
