Woodshop Assistant Supervisor

The Woodshop Assistant Supervisor supports the woodshop's daily operations by overseeing cabinetmaking and woodworking activities, assisting with staff supervision, and ensuring production quality, safety, and efficiency. This role performs advanced cabinet-making duties while helping coordinate job setup, job entry, workflow sequencing, training, adherence to specifications and blueprints, & safety standards, and assists with requesting and coordinating the prior approval of all plan changes with Engineering and Project Managers.SALARY RANGE: $33.65 to $48.08 per hour and commensurate with experience.SHIFT: Full-Time Monday through Friday 6 am-2:30 pm EST.AVAILABLE BENEFITS: Health, Vision, Dental, 401 (k) plan, and paid time off.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.     Assist the Woodshop Supervisor in overseeing daily woodshop operations, including workflow coordination, job setup, material selection, and sequencing of production tasks.2.     Operate, program, and provide guidance to staff on the correct and safe use of woodworking equipment such as CNC routers, edge banders, jointers, table saws, wall saws, and boring machines.3.     Read, interpret, and assist others in understanding blueprints, drawings, and/or specifications to ensure accurate production.4.     Perform layout work by marking dimensions and outlines on lumber or other materials in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and/or specifications.5.     Participate in and provide guidance on the fabrication, assembly, repair, and/or finishing of cabinets, high-grade wood components, and related products using hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, glue, sanding materials, and clamps.6.     Participate in and provide guidance on the application of laminates, finishes, stains, varnish, and paint to cabinets and wood surfaces in accordance with application specifications and quality standards.7.     Participate in and provide guidance on the installation of hardware such as hinges, catches, drawer slides, and pulls with accuracy and consistency.8.     Consult with and seek the prior approval of the Engineering Department and assigned Project Managers before making any blueprint, drawing, and/or specification changes, and confirm that any and all such modifications and changes are documented on the system.9.     Interface with Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) business software and enter data into the system, and ensure that staff are timely and properly logged into jobs.10. Communicate effectively with the supervisor, team members, and project managers regarding production status, material needs, and scheduling concerns.11. Monitor work quality and assist in resolving production issues or defects to maintain shop standards.12. Enforce safety regulations and ensure clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.13. Support training and mentoring to staff on proper material handling methods and workmanship standards. 14. Perform other related duties as assigned to support woodshop operations and supervisory objectives.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES·        Considerable knowledge of cabinet-making practices, woodworking materials, machinery, and tools.·        Ability to read, interpret, and assist others in understanding blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate production.·        Working knowledge of production workflows and job sequencing in a woodshop environment.·        Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to woodworking and cabinet manufacturing.·        Familiarity with wood and metal production methods is preferred.·        Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and support team members.·        Effective verbal and written communication skills.·        Ability to work independently while supporting a team-based production environment.·        Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask and prioritize work.·        Willingness to pursue ongoing training and development, share expertise with others, and adapt to changing priorities.·        Strong CNC and ERP skills.·        Computer-aided design knowledge and experience is strongly preferred.·        Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS·        Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment.·        Prior experience leading, training, or mentoring others strongly preferred.·        Graduation from a standard vocational school or high school, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT·        This position is not represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of At-Will Employment.
