This role is primarily focused on software development within a cloud environment, emphasizing backend application development, cloud architecture, and system design. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience developing applications in AWS and Python, with a proven track record of designing scalable, reliable cloud-native solutions. Candidates with a background in Java who have transitioned into Python and AWS development are highly preferred. This position is remote, requiring candidates to be based within Eastern, Central, or Mountain Time Zones, excluding PST and Arizona. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-based applications, contributing to our ongoing cloud migration and modernization initiatives.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have over 14-15 years of software development or cloud engineering experience, with a significant focus on AWS and Python. A strong background in backend development, system design, and cloud architecture is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, Terraform, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). Previous Java development experience, especially those who transitioned to Python and AWS, is highly desirable. Relevant AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect – Professional and AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional are preferred. Additionally, experience in large-scale cloud migration projects, API development, Kafka, CloudWatch, and troubleshooting complex cloud issues will be advantageous. Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to make sound technical decisions are critical for success in this role.ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based applications and backend services. The developer will write production-quality Python code daily, ensuring high standards of performance and reliability. Responsibilities also encompass developing and maintaining AWS cloud-native applications, designing scalable and dependable cloud solutions, and creating APIs and event-driven applications. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving complex application and cloud infrastructure issues, collaborating with engineering and application teams on system design and implementation, and supporting cloud migration and modernization efforts.
