Unified Government Clerks Office Records Specialist VISTAThe Unified Government of Wyandotte County AmeriCorps VISTA Program strengthens local capacity to improve access to government services for low-income and underserved residents. This position supports the Clerk's Office by developing sustainable systems to modernize and improve access to public records. The VISTA member will assess current records management practices and support the development of standardized processes, tools, and documentation to improve organization, retrieval, and long-term maintenance of records. This includes contributing to a phased approach for digitizing high-priority documents frequently requested by residents and creating systems that improve efficiency and consistency across departments. The member will also help develop public-facing guidance to improve understanding of how to request records and support evaluation efforts that measure improvements in system performance and accessibility. These efforts will strengthen the county's ability to provide timely, accurate information to residents. By improving access to essential documents needed for housing, employment, identification, and legal processes, this project will reduce barriers for residents navigating critical life needs. Strengthened records systems will support more efficient service delivery and improve access to resources that contribute to greater stability and economic opportunity for residents experiencing poverty. They will assist in developing a phased plan for digitizing high-priority documents and create materials to support consistent records management practices. The VISTA will also help develop clear, public-facing guidance for requesting records and contribute to evaluation efforts that measure system improvements.
