It is a great place to work and live.Primary Purpose:Plan and coordinate all components of the athletic training program for student athletes. Also work under the direction of the team physician to carry out activities in the following areas: prevention, evaluation, emergency treatment, physical reconditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experience designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.Qualifications:EducationBachelor's degreeValid license from Texas Advisory Board of Athletic TrainersSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to provide injury prevention and rehabilitation servicesAbility to provide emergency careKnowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to apply appropriate treatment to treat student athletic injuriesAbility to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistantsGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionKnowledge of subjects assignedAbility to utilize technology and information resourcesAble to research and develop teaching unitsAble to instruct students and manage their behaviorPossess excellent organizational, communicational, and interpersonal skillsMajor Responsibilities and Duties:TrainerPlan and implement a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention programAttend practice sessions and athletic contests as assigned by the athletic directorEstablish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches, and other staffProvide physical conditioning trainingFit injured athletes with specialized equipment and oversee its usePrepare athletes for games and practices by conducting evaluations and using tape, wraps, splints, braces, and other protective devices as neededRespond to emergencies and make quick, independent judgments about how to deal with injuriesIdentify acute injuries and provide first aide triage, including assessing injuries and deciding whether an athlete should seek further medical attention and should discontinue participation in the athletic eventEstablish specific procedures to be carried out by a coach or student trainer in the event of a medical emergencyDetect and resolve environmental risks to athletesPlan and put in place a comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning program for injuries and illnesses sustainedDetermine therapeutic goals and objectives for individual athletesApply therapeutic modalities and instruct athletes on proper use of exercise equipmentEvaluate and the record rehabilitation progress of athletes. Develop criteria for progression and return to practice and competitionFollow professional, ethical, and legal parameters regarding use of drugs and therapeutic agents for treatment and rehabilitation of injured athletesCoordinate scheduling of athletic physical examinations and screeningSelect, train, and supervise student assistantsCompile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents including medical, accident, and treatment records as requiredMaintain an inventory of training supplies and equipment. Requisition additional supplies as neededTeacherDevelop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as requiredPresent subject matter according to guidelines established by federal regulations, the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulationsPlan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the diverse needs of students assignedHelp students analyze and improve study methods and habitsConduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testingManage students behavior in accordance with District Discipline Management Plan Code of Conduct and student handbookEstablish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers and support staffParticipate in staff development activities to improve job-related skillsOtherDemonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsibleComply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulationsAdhere to the district's safety policies and proceduresMaintain confidentiality in the conduct of district businessMust be able to perform the essential functions of interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assignedDemonstrate regular and prompt attendanceOther duties as assignedEquipment Used:Computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, telephone and calculator; exercise equipment and devices including stationary bike, pulleys, weights, whirlpool, paraffin bath, ultrasound equipment, and cold packsWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress; Work with frequent interruptions; Ability to read and communicate effectively (verbal and written); Interpret policy, procedures, and data; Occasional lifting and carrying moderate weight; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; Indoor and outdoor work on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and around machinery with moving parts; Exposure to sun, heat, cold, inclement weather, biological/chemical hazards and communicable diseases; Frequent district, and occasional statewide travel; Frequent prolonged and irregular hours(Employees with disabilities are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act.)Please send your resume and cover letter to the followingExecutive Director of Athletics: Kevin Reaves- kreaves@qcisd.netContact InformationKevin Reaveskreaves@qcisd.net
