Job Summary Under the general supervision the Athletic Director (AD), the Athletic Trainer will support the athletic program through the prevention, recognition, and evaluation of injuries and illnesses. The Athletic Trainer will ensure that all students are instilled with a Biblical worldview and supervised in a safe environment. The Athletic Trainer must have a strong, active, and committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to lead with a humble heart, a passion for Christian education, and a calling to serve at Cornerstone Christian Academy. He or she will seek to perform all duties as unto the Lord, relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance, and completing all tasks with excellence.Minimum QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree requiredAthletic Trainer Certified credential issued by the NATA BOCCPR and First Aid CertifiedExperience2+ years of experience and/or preparation in an athletic program preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with leadership, peers, faculty, students, parents, volunteers and the external communityDemonstrated knowledge of athleticsAbility to assess the strengths and needs of studentsTechnologiesMust be skilled at technology and its applications within the school, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointPhysical CapabilitiesAble to stand and walk for most of the day; speak and hear clearly; operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop and twist; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and moving non-ambulatory students with assistanceAble to supervise students both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsAble to walk up and down stairsPersonal CharacteristicsAffirms CCA's Articles of FaithDeeply committed to a consistent daily walk with Jesus ChristAble to recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and safety, and be prepared to assist them in that taskAble to manage everyday stress with objectivity and optimismAdheres to high ethical standards and exemplifies Christian behavior in attitude, speech, and actions towards othersMaintains a modest, professional, and clean personal appearance consistent with school policyWork Hours / TravelWork week is consistent with standard school schedule of Monday through Friday with frequent work in the evenings or on weekends for special school events and activitiesSchool-related travel as necessaryJob Functions and TasksEssential FunctionsTreat all students with kindness and respect and continually reinforce and develop their Christian character and their identity in ChristProvides immediate first aid and emergency care for acute injuriesAssists in the management of chronic athletic injuries or conditionsCreates personalized rehabilitation plans for injured student athletesCollaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to managing athlete's health and well-beingDevelops and implements injury prevention programsMaintains regular and accurate records of student's health and medical historyProvides instruction on rehabilitation exercises and methods of maintaining body conditioning while injuredDemonstrate understanding of how to work with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgroundsMaintain emergency preparedness and safety procedures consistent with established protocolsRepresent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general publicAdminister the physical requirements for eligibility to participate in each sport and verify the eligibility of each athleteFacilitate clear communication and timely feedback with students, parents, and coaches to ensure students remain on track with goals and objectivesUse assessment tools to inform, guide and evaluate student athletesJob Context: Walking and standing; indoors and outdoors; some seated desk workJob Status: Full-time/Part-time, exemptIf you have questions about this position, please contact Elizabeth Gordon, Director of HR.
