Facilities Maintenance Engineer
Job Summary:The Conveyor Mechanic supports the operation of a fast-paced fulfillment center by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment. This role is critical to minimizing downtime and ensuring packages move efficiently through sorting, scanning, and shipping processes.Key Responsibilities:Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on conveyor systems, including belts, rollers, bearings, pulleys, sorters, and motorsDiagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues in high-speed automated systemsRespond quickly to conveyor jams, breakdowns, and system alerts to reduce operational downtimeInspect and maintain components such as photo eyes, sensors, and scanners used in automated sortingReplace worn or defective parts and ensure proper system alignment and calibrationWork closely with operations teams to prioritize repairs during peak volume periodsMaintain accurate maintenance logs using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)Follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) proceduresSupport continuous improvement efforts to increase system reliability and throughputQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training preferred2+ years of experience with conveyor systems, material handling equipment, or industrial maintenanceStrong mechanical troubleshooting skills; basic electrical knowledge preferredFamiliarity with automated systems, PLCs, and sensors is a plusAbility to read and interpret schematics and technical documentationComfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasksAbility to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periodsComfortable working around moving machinery and in noisy environmentsWork Environment:Large-scale fulfillment or distribution centerExposure to varying temperatures depending on facility conditionsMay require overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts, especially during peak seasonsFast-paced environment with productivity and uptime expectations
