Maintenance Machinist

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Perform all machining tasks safely while following company safety protocols and standard operating procedures.Operate manual machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, and related shop equipment to build or repair precision components.Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify parts meet specifications.Fabricate fixtures, jigs, and tooling as required to support production and maintenance needs.Disassemble, inspect, clean, and repair mechanical components; document findings and corrective actions.Fit and assemble newly machined or repaired components into machines, die sets, or mechanical systems, ensuring proper function and alignment.Perform preventive maintenance tasks and record work using the company's maintenance management system.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Obtain and maintain a forklift license (if required).EDUCATION: Required: High School diplomaPreferred: 2 year machine shop apprenticeship; college or vocational certification in blueprint reading, machine shop, and fabrication curriculumEXPERIENCE:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent, 3+ years of handson experience in a machine shop or metal fabrication environment, Mechanical experience in machining, metal fabrication, and equipment repairPreferred: Completion of a machining apprenticeship or technical/vocational program,5+ years experience machining precision metal componentsSKILLS REQUIRED:Ability to read, write, and follow instructionsStrong attendance and dependabilityProficiency with manual machining tools and standard shop equipmentSolid understanding of machinist mathAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionCapability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasksCommitment to maintaining high safety standards for self and othersSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):Work environment may include exposure to heat, dust, chemicals, metal chips, and fumes.Physical effort is significant; tasks may require lifting, climbing, bending, and working in challenging positions.Compliance with safety precautions is required to prevent injuries.LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERThe above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.All job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
