Job Summary As a Software Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and supporting software applications. You will be a part of our dynamic team where you will apply your expertise in gathering, documenting, understanding, and articulating functional and non-functional already defined business requirements. Responsibilities Gather, document, understand, and articulate functional, non-functional and business requirements that are already defined. Design and develop software applications and related components both independently and as part of a team. Perform unit, regression and integrations testing for application changes to ensure high quality. Track and monitor production systems for issue identification and prevention across multiple environments and operating platforms. Research and troubleshoot issues across different functional teams in order to rectify system problems in a timely manner. Communicate status updates with team members and leaders to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Becomes familiar with Alfa's interconnected technology framework and systems in order to understand impact of software changes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related area of study related to Computer Science or mathematics is required. Strong understanding of integration patterns, REST/SOAP APIs, and data transformation (JSON, XML, XSLT, etc.) Proficiency in Java or other relevant programming languages Experience with MuleSoft, Confluent Kafka, AWS, or other cloud integration tools preferred General understanding of all SDLC components. Knows when to use different methodologies and how to effectively manage each. Documented and proven application development record or schooling/training as it relates to the technologies, tools and languages required for the specified position. Competent communication skills (sending and receiving), including clear and timely communication on business issues and assignments with peers, management and product owners. Ability to quickly learn and comprehend insurance-related topics and relate that knowledge to the development process. After the initial training period, this position will allow for remote work in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Applicants may be required to travel to Montgomery corporate headquarters at supervisor's request for meetings and/or training sessions.
