Product Development Engineer Direct Hire | Armada, MI | $85K–$110K We’re recruiting for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer opportunity with a growing product-focused manufacturing company that designs and builds real-world mechanical products used across the country. This is not a highly siloed OEM engineering role. The team is looking for an engineer who enjoys being involved in the full product lifecycle, from early concept and prototyping through testing, manufacturing, and production launch. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly hands-on. Engineers work closely with Production, Quality, Process Engineering, and Product Management to ensure products are functional, manufacturable, cost-effective, and practical for real-world use. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, building prototypes, improving designs, and thinking beyond just CAD work. What You’ll Be Doing Lead mechanical product development projects from concept through production launch Design components and assemblies in SolidWorks Build and test prototypes using in-house 3D printing and CNC equipment Apply DFMA principles to improve manufacturability, assembly, cost, and scalability Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and product teams Solve practical engineering challenges related to production, installation, usability, and shipping Support continuous improvement and product enhancement initiatives What We're Looking For 3+ years of mechanical product development experience Cradle-to-grave product design experience Strong 3D CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks Practical understanding of machining and manufacturing processes Experience designing products with manufacturability and assembly in mind Someone who enjoys hands-on engineering and broader product ownership Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and willingness to think creatively Helpful Backgrounds Candidates from smaller product development environments, aftermarket products, custom equipment, machinery, or hands-on manufacturing companies tend to align especially well with this team.
