Supervisor, Registered Nurse - Cancer Clinic

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: RN Supervisor – Cancer Center Department: Cancer and Infusion Reports To: Oncology Regional Director - Systems Location: Cancer and Infusion Center FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary: Responsible for the daily operations of the Cancer and Infusion Center. Ensures the provision of patient-focused, high-quality care that is both efficient and fiscally responsible. Supervises nursing team. Leads with strong interpersonal skills and flexibility. Maintains consistent and up-to-date policies across locations. Takes the lead in process improvement efforts. Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice incorporating assessment, planning, nursing diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, recognized professional standards, and organizational policy. Position will work a .3 Supervisor and .4 RN. This is a perfect opportunity to work with a group of compassionate caregivers taking care of our community. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide professional nursing care to Oncology and Infusion patients in an outpatient/clinical setting in close partnership with clinicians. Performs technical skills specific to assigned service area and other areas as appropriate. Support clinicians with daily tasks (triage calls, test results, paperwork, etc.) and monitoring in-basket messages. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. Collaborate with other service areas to optimize patient flow and outcomes. Monitors patient experience, quality and/or customer service as applicable and involves staff in continuous efforts towards improvement. Follows HR policies. Interviews, hires, orients and trains new staff. Supervises, coaches, counsels and appraises service area staff. Retains solid and high performing staff. Facilitates communication and teamwork between departments to build relationships and facilitate department and interdepartmental success. Develops and tracks service area policies procedures, processes and competencies and communicates updates and changes regularly with staff. Manages service area contracts per Contract Review policies. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities for This Service Area Leader Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and training to staff based on performance metrics and service area trends. Evaluate nursing functions and recommend policy or procedural updates to maintain compliance and regulatory standards. Assist in developing and implementing annual service area goals and monitor progress toward completion. Conduct or assist with employee performance evaluations in collaboration with the Oncology leaders. Monitor staff workflows and promote a high level of customer and patient satisfaction. Ensure open, two-way communication between employees and leadership, addressing staff concerns promptly. Manage timekeeping, attendance, and related issue resolution. Collaborate with the Oncology leaders and other internal leaders to improve workflows and patient engagement. Lead and facilitate service area meetings. Support system upgrades and service-area–specific software development. Maintain leadership and clinical competence through participation in professional development activities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education, Training or Degree Required: Current RN license in the state of Minnesota License/Registration/Certification Required: (will be primary source verified by HR) Current CPR required Experience and Skills: At least one year of related supervisor experience or three years related non-supervisor experience required OCN Certification Preferred – if not certified, will obtain within 6 months Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients served, along with appropriate support services to MD required. Familiarity with legal and insurance requirements related to documentation within the medical record required Strong human relations, written and verbal communication skills required. Good verbal and written communication, required. Critical thinking and the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks, required.
