Conducts safety management evaluations, inspections, training, and provides tracking and monitoring of the equipment testing and licensing program. POSITION: Safety and Occupational Health Specialist PERIOD OF ASSIGNMENT: Full Time Considers and evaluates SOH hazards related to operations and maintenance of navigation locks, floating plants, hydropower production projects, flood control structures and the application of safety standards that effect completing the work in a safe and effective manner. Assists Fleet Supervisors, Project Engineers, Repair Fleet and Repair Station Chiefs, and Collateral Duty Safety Officers (CDSO) in the application of national, state, and local safety standards, fire codes, and safety engineering standards in direct collaboration with the R3F SOH Manager. Works with the Fleet Chief, Superintendent, Shift Supervisors, Master Towboat, and Master Derrickboat in preparing the daily and weekly safety meetings. Assists the R3F SOH Manager with investigation of mishaps or review of accident reports to identify the root cause and corrective actions. Issues as qualified, written certifications and qualifications for completion of training. Maintains an R3F training, certification, and licensing database that records all safety training, certifications, and licensing applicable to the Fleet Unit assigned.
