LEGAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTIONDowntown Cleveland firm Zashin & Rich Co., L.P.A. seeks a Legal Assistant experienced in all aspects of litigation. Must be a team player, have excellent computer skills, be highly organized and thrive in a fast-paced, voluminous environment.The responsibilities encompass a variety of secretarial and practice support tasks, including:Use word processing and document management software (Microsoft Office 365, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Adobe, etc.) to prepare and revise, format and finalize a wide variety of documents, including correspondence, memoranda, and legal materials. In conjunction with the preparation of such documents, the Legal Assistant is responsible for proofreading, correctly formatting and questioning any inconsistencies in all materials.Prepare court filings for state, federal, and appellate courts (electronic filings and traditional filings) and various administrative agencies, including creating table of authorities and table of contents.Maintain calendar and deadline reminder systems, make appointments.Make travel arrangements.Complete expense reports.Open new file requests, conflict of interest checks, and maintain client and general files. Conduct periodic review for possible storage of older files and prepare files to be closed.Observe confidentiality of attorney-client relationship.Complete time entry for assigned attorneys.Provide assistance to other Legal Assistants within assigned teams whenever necessary to meet Firm and client needs. Organize and prioritize workload for maximum efficiency and facilitation of Firm and client goals. Seek guidance from the COO when workload demands and deadlines dictate.Foster professional, cooperative and supportive relationships with peers, superiors and clients.  Anticipate, identify, and properly respond to clients’/colleagues’ current and future needs. Share information and offer ideas and solutions in a team environment.Communicate with attorneys and assist in balancing the team’s workload to ensure completion of projects within established time frames and quality standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements:  Minimum of 2 years of law firm experience required, supporting a minimum of 3 attorneys.Advanced skills in Word (using styles, track changes and document comparison programs); proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; Advanced skills with Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.Ability to read and write in order to proofread and perform minor editing (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling) of routine law office correspondence and legal case matters. Perform non-complex arithmetic calculations when verifying calculations on forms and documents; maintain records and filing systems at a level normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.Possesses creativity and the ability to think innovatively and exercise independent judgment when necessary.Strong attention to detail, ability to balance multiple projects and have strong time management skills.Experience in labor and employment law and/or family is preferred, but not a requirement. Featured Benefits: Medical, vision, and dental insurance401(k)Paid parental leaveDisability InsuranceProfit SharingBonus opportunitiesPaid parking  **Zashin & Rich Co., L.P.A. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
