Medical AssistantWe're hiring a Medical Assistant to join our dermatology clinic in Columbia and Eldersburg, MD. The Medical Assistant will assist Physicians and other Providers by working hands-on preparing procedure trays, ensuring adequate supplies for the department, and assisting with patient care.Required schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 AM 4:00/5:00 PM. We believe in providing our new associates with intensive hands-on training and long-term career growth opportunities from within.ResponsibilitiesRoom patients, obtain and document intake information, and accurately record vital signs in the EMRSupport efficient patient flow throughout the clinic to maintain provider schedulesPrepare procedure trays, instruments, and equipment according to provider and clinic protocolsAssist providers during dermatologic procedures, including biopsies and excisionsPrepare, label, and route pathology and laboratory specimens to the appropriate lab based on patient insurance requirementsAdminister or assist with local anesthetic per provider directionRespond to patient questions in person and by phone, escalating clinical concerns as appropriateReview and manage clinical task lists, nurse line messages, phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental communications in a timely mannerAccurately document patient information and scribe provider notes in the EMR when requiredClean, calibrate, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment and instruments according to established schedules and infection control standardsMonitor medication and supply inventories, remove expired items, and maintain accurate recordsOrder, organize, stock, and inventory clinical supplies to ensure exam rooms and supply areas are fully stockedPerform pathology follow-up calls to patients as directed by the provider, including communicating results, documenting outreach, and coordinating next steps when neededMaintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality standardsPerform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operationsQualificationsAbility to triage patient concerns and communicate findings appropriately to clinical staffKnowledge of and compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and Bloodborne Pathogen standardsExperience obtaining and documenting vital signs and preparing patients for medical and procedural appointmentsExperience administering injections and assisting with clinical proceduresWorking knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes, and ICD-10 codingFamiliarity with front-office and clinical workflows, including office financial policiesBasic computer proficiency and experience using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systemsAbility to operate standard office equipment, including computers, scanners, copiers, and fax machinesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on patient serviceFluency in English (bilingual skills a plus)Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environmentStrong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectivelyAbility to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a clinical teamWillingness and ability to travel to satellite clinic locations as neededAbility to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions accuratelyLicensure/Certifications/EducationEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredCompletion of a Medical Assistant program (CMA) preferred; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training or completion of a bachelor's degree in a pre-med or pre-Physician Assistant (Pre-PA) track also considered1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, or in a comparable hands-on clinical patient care role (preferred)Previous experience in dermatology - preferred but not requiredPhysical RequirementsStand and walk for extended periods throughout the workdayPerform moderate amounts of bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, and repetitive movementsUse hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, including handling instruments and medical suppliesCommunicate verbally in person and by telephoneLift and carry up to 30 poundsSafely handle materials such as paper files, medical supplies, and equipmentWork in an environment with potential exposure to infectious organisms, chemicals, and sharp instrumentsBenefits (Full-Time Employees - 30+ Hours/week)Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance effective the 1st of the month following start dateShort-term and long-term disability coverageVoluntary life insurance (employee, spouse, and child), Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity plansCompany-provided Basic Life and AD&D insurancePaid time off and paid holidaysRetirement savings planEmployee discounts on cosmetic services and skincare products
