Description:JOB SUMMARYThe Clinical Staff (CMA, RMA, CST or LPN) support providers and the multidisciplinary bariatric team in delivering high-quality care to patients participating in the bariatric surgical programs. The role involves patient interaction, sensitive communication, and reliable handling of both medical and front-office tasks. Includes assisting with patient intake, care coordination, and patient education while ensuring efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient experience and plays a key role in supporting patients through their pre-operative and post-operative care journey.RESPONSIBILITIESPatient Care & Clinical SupportWelcome patients, verify demographics, and prepare them for visitsTake and record vital signs, weight, and body composition measurements, and demographic informationObtain and record medical history, surgical history, verify allergies, update medication lists per clinic and departmental protocolPrepares clinic summary forms for providers prior to patient visitsPrepare exam rooms and support providers during clinicClean exam rooms after patient visits per policyComplete EMR documentation and fulfill MIPS requirementsEnter medication and lab orders and call results as guided by nurse / providersComplete overdue task listsRespond to prescription requests / refillsAssist with incoming and outgoing phone calls, including appointment scheduling and message triage, notifying the appropriate clinic staff member and documenting interventionProcess faxes, scan documents into the EMR, and manage incoming results or referralsMaintain clinical supplies, equipment cleanliness, and regulatory complianceAbility to work in multiple platforms (Allscripts, Athena, Epic)Bariatric Program SupportSupport patients through pre-surgical requirements and program milestones.Assists with bariatric-specific assessments, including risk calculators/screening tools and questionnairesAssist with scribing clinic notes to support provider workflow and maintain complete, accurate recordsSupport multidisciplinary team members such as front desk staff, nurses, dietitians, behavioral health, and surgeonsParticipation in telehealth group medical visits and associated clinic work upParticipation in bariatric service line team meetings and accreditation surveysMaintains bariatric clinic protocols as outlined by ASMBS standardsReinforce patient education related to program requirementsAssist with order entry, lab tracking & notification, & any additional diagnostic testing under the direction of multidisciplinary team.Support long-term follow-up visits and weight management program appointments.Clinic OperationsPrepare and stock exam rooms and maintain equipment.Clean and sterilize instruments according to infection control standards.Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed.Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.Other DutiesPerform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.Physical RequirementsStand and walk for extended periods.Assist patients with mobility and positioning as needed.Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.Perform clinical tasks requiring manual dexterity.Requirements:QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.BLS certification required.Experience in bariatrics, primary care, endocrinology, or surgical specialties preferred.Understanding of bariatric surgery process and weight management principles preferred.Strong patient education and communication skills.Compassionate approach to patients undergoing lifestyle and health changes.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation.PI2851bf6978ba-26289-39044597
