Description:JOB SUMMARYThe Certified Medical Assistant, Procedures is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who works collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care. The Certified Medical Assistant, Procedures performs both administrative and clinical duties to support efficient, cost-effective care, optimize patient outcomes, and improve overall quality of life.RESPONSIBILITIESHelps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visitPrepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.Saves doctors time by helping with office procedures.Procedures: TOV, SP tube change, foley change, I&O catheter, bladder irrigation, KUB Xray, bladder scans, PTNSSecures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeps patient information confidential.Counsels patients by transmitting physician orders and questions about surgery.Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stockKeeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenanceUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Carries out clinical duties as outlined in specific job description for CMA, RMA, CST, LPN, or RN, as applicable.Collect and prepare lab specimens as neededEnsure consents have been signed prior to procedure by both the physician and patientDraw up and/or administer injections as ordered by providerPrepare dressings and assist with wound careEscorts patient to secretaries for discharge instructions and check outPrepare pathology form, cup collection labels, log and record per policyDocument patient communications and treatments accurately and appropriatelyManage KPI reports including duplicate medication and medical reconciliationMaintain rooms by proper turnover procedures, replenishing of inventory, changing of linens and removal of wasteConfirm labs and imaging is available for provider prior to visitPerform catheter changes, bladder scans, bladder irrigations, X-raysPerform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.CHARACTERISTICSHigh energy level and strong interpersonal skillsTactful, empathetic, and sensitive to patient needsExcellent telephone etiquetteUses discretion, sound judgment, and maintains confidentialityEstablishes credibility with physicians, staff, and patientsOrganized, resourceful, able to multitask, and takes initiativeFocused on quality improvement and cost-efficient careTeam player with a positive attitudeProfessional appearance and demeanorRequirements:QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an accredited Medical Assisting programCurrent Medical Assisting Certification with no restrictionsCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationKnowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and clinic-based health and safety precautionsAbility to use and apply medical terminology accuratelyUnderstanding of general clinical principles, methodologies, and outcome measuresStrong communication skills with patients and external parties in a courteous and professional mannerPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSSitting: OccasionallyStanding: FrequentlyWalking: FrequentlyCarrying/Lifting: Occasionally (up to 35 pounds)Stooping/Kneeling: FrequentlyOther: N/APId871e012be02-26289-40112619
