Project Manager- Environmental | Albany, New York, United States Pay range: 35-60/hrYears of Experience-3 to 6 yearsClean and Resilient Building Team is hiring Project Manager 1 to oversee floodplain mapping improvements and climate hazard data integration. The role focuses primarily on managing a floodplain mapping contract with the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) , supporting implementation of climate hazard datasets across NYSERDA programs, and improving statewide hazard data tools for public use.ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, RISK MANAGEMENT, DATA SCIENCE BACKGROUND = RELEVANTFloodplain Mapping Contract Management (largest portion of role):Oversee contractor performing floodplain modeling efforts with DEC partnershipCoordinate extensively with Department of Environmental ConservationEnsure deliverables meet contract expectations and timeline requirementsProvide feedback to contractors on technical outputsClimate Hazard Data Implementation:Support NYSERDA staff in interpreting climate hazard datasetsBuild internal tools and guidance materials using GIS and SalesforceTroubleshoot data issues and ensure latest datasets are incorporated into programsStatewide Hazard Data Tools:Improve existing public tools like sea level rise mapperEnsure climate hazard data is clear, accessible, and decision-readyCoordinate with state agencies, academia, IT departments, and other partnersNew Product Development (smallest scope):Develop new datasets, tools, or methodologies as neededStay current with industry trends and recommend new tool incorporationScope collaboratively with Climate Resilience team only when capacity allowsTechnical Requirements:Familiarity with floodplain modeling approaches (not required to perform modeling personally)Working understanding hydrologic and hydraulic modelingDemonstrated experience with climate hazard datasets (flooding, extreme heat, wind, drought)Strong contract management experienceProduct development and user testing experienceSpecialized Skills (highly beneficial):Familiarity with FEMA map products and floodplain managementStrong working experience with ArcGIS/geospatial tools (most important technical skill)Climate risk assessment experiencePython coding literacy (awareness level, not full proficiency required)Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in environmental science, risk management, computer science, data science, or related field3-6 years of relevant experienceMaster's degree is a plus but not requiredDemonstrated experience with climate hazard datasets is essential
