For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer - SDM to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment.Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship availableCompensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annuallyResponsibilities Lead the architecture of concurrent, distributed backend systems in Go, setting cross-team engineering standards Drive design decisions on proxy data planes and control-plane services, evaluating complex technical tradeoffs Partner with architects and product managers to shape system roadmaps aligned with business priorities Act as a subject matter expert on secure network protocols, guiding their application within the platform Conduct code reviews, ensuring high standards of performance, security, and maintainability across teams Investigate and resolve technical issues in distributed, multi-cloud environments, navigating ambiguous tradeoffs Author and maintain distinct architectural documentation for broader team alignmentQualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related technical field 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, especially in Go (Golang) and distributed systems Proven ability to architect high-concurrency, distributed systems at scale, including Go's networking and cryptography libraries Strong understanding of network protocols and API design, with the ability to evaluate system-wide tradeoffs Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and cloud-native deployment models in production environments Excellent analytical skills to convey complex technical concepts to various stakeholders Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and influencing cross-team relationshipsBenefits Healthcare insurance Pension/retirement matching Comprehensive life insurance Employee assistance program Time off plans and paid holidaysOur client is an equal opportunity employer.
