Job DescriptionControllerSummary:Summit Graphics, located in Pilot Point Texas, is a leader in the Packaging, Label and Signs industry. We produce high-quality custom products for the Business to Consumer space. Our business is growing and we are hiring qualified skilled technicians to join the Summit Graphics team.This role is built for a hands-on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves financial leader who thrives in a fast‑moving start‑up manufacturing environment. As the Controller, you will establish and oversee all accounting operations, build scalable financial processes, and serve as a strategic partner to leadership. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity across all financial reporting while helping shape the financial infrastructure of a growing plant.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & StrategyBuild and manage the plant’s accounting function from the ground up, including systems, processes, and internal controls.Partner with executive leadership to support financial planning, budgeting, and long‑term strategy.Provide clear, actionable financial insights to guide operational and strategic decisions.Accounting OperationsOversee daily accounting activities including AP, AR, payroll, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and general ledger management.Develop and maintain a robust month‑end and year‑end close process.Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.Cost & Manufacturing AccountingImplement and manage cost accounting systems tailored to a manufacturing environment.Analyze production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and inventory valuation.Support pricing decisions, margin analysis, and operational improvements.Compliance & ControlsEstablish internal controls appropriate for a start‑up manufacturing operation.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Coordinate external audits and tax filings.Systems & Process DevelopmentSelect, implement, and optimize accounting software and reporting tools.Create scalable processes that support rapid growth and operational complexity.Drive continuous improvement across financial workflows.QualificationsRequired Experience3–5 years of experience as a Controller OR 5–7 years as an Assistant Controller.Prior experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations strongly preferred.EducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.CPA or CMA preferred but not required.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems; experience implementing new systems is a plus.Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.Professional TraitsHighly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable building structure from scratch.Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, leadership, and external partners.Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt quickly and solve problems in a dynamic environment.Physical Expectations:Ability to sit for up to 8 hours.Frequently lift/carry up to350 lbs.Occasionally lift/ carry more than 30 lbs.Have moderate manual dexterity.Work Environment:· All work is performed in an indoor, climate and temperature controlled, packaging facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery.The above job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position.
