Medical Services Manager

Medical Clinic ManagerCreates and maintains continuity of medical services by coordinating service delivery, staffing, provider/staff schedules, supply inventory and maintenance of equipment. Responsible for managing medical assistants and assisting providers while promoting an environment that is safe, effective, patient-centered, efficient and equitable.
Ensures care delivered is within clinic standards and meets nursing practice requirements in a dignified and efficient manner while promoting high quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
Responsible for the direct supervision of medical assistants.
Identifies learning opportunities, provides effective coaching and feedback and develops corrective actions plans as needed.
Collaborates with director, nursing staff and providers to promote health education based on patient's needs.
Ensure that medical area is maintained according to infection control procedures and standards including sanitation and disinfection of equipment.
Oversees the maintenance and operation of medical equipment.
Participates in patient education regarding medications and/or treatments prescribed by the clinician.
Trains new staff, volunteers and students on department's best practices, procedures and standards for documenting in the electronic health record.
Manage processes to facilitate referrals for outside specialties, diagnostic and sub-specialty services not provided by San Jos Clinic.
Evaluate staff regularly and maintain records of staff certifications and licenses, as appropriate.
Maintain work assignments, time sheets and approves employee time off requests while ensuring adequate coverage at all times. May be required to fill in for staff as necessary.
Collaborates with Operations Manager on provider schedules, ensuring that the schedules are utilized appropriately.
In absence of Nursing Director, assists Medical Director with the management for the department.
Responds to employee, patient, and provider grievances communicating information to the appropriate supervisor.
Convenes regular staff meetings and other means of communications to foster employee knowledge and information including enforcement of personal policies.
Participate in the administrative activities which support the medical department including identifying supply and equipment needs.
Operates the medical department within budget parameters and provides documentation for expenditures.
Participates and collaborates with the organization's leadership team to create and implement strategies to maximize the department's patient care capacities, while improving patient outcomes and striving to reach the department and organizational goals.
Assists Nursing Director with monitoring and analyzing department statistics and monthly reports; and ensures grant projects are carried out per grant agreements.
Delivers medical care in accordance with the Catholic Moral and Ethical Directives.
Follows all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines and regulations, including assisting HIPAA and OSHA Officers in ensuring compliance.
Implements job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San Jos Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San Jos Clinic cultural diversity objectives.
Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
Must be a graduate of a State Board accredited school of Nursing for Licensed Vocational Nurses or be a Registered Nurse; must have current licensure by the State of Texas.
Must have at least one year experience in a clinical setting or hospital outpatient facility.
Can demonstrate excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking and effective use of time. Also able to handle and complete multiple tasks or projects with multiple deadlines.
Ability to deal professionally, courteously and efficiently with public and all levels of the organization.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and practice management system software applications.
Can demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
Can demonstrate effective customer relation skills, working with diverse populations, often in stressful fast paced environments.
Ability to communicate with medical terminology in English and Spanish recommended.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop for (long) periods of time.
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally/frequently.
Ability to respond to emergency/crisis situations.
Exposure to noise.
Exposure to blood and/or fluids.
