Associate Cloud EngineerCharlotte, NCHybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)$40 per hour (Contract-to-Hire)About The RoleOur client is seeking a motivated Associate Cloud Engineer for a contract-to-hire position based in Charlotte, NC, with a hybrid work schedule (4 days onsite, 1 day remote). This entry-level opportunity is ideal for candidates with foundational experience in Linux system administration and scripting who are eager to expand their skills in a highly technical, hands-on environment. You will work closely with senior engineers to support critical platform administration, environment builds, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure operations. The role offers the chance to develop long-term expertise in cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering best practices, with exposure to AWS, on-prem, and future GCP environments.What You'll DoShadow senior systems engineers during full platform builds and configurationsLearn and assist with installation workflows, firewall setup, and configuration stepsSupport access-related tasks, including IAM administrationSupport administrative tasks across multiple platform teamsPerform low-complexity, hands-on system administration activitiesParticipate in environment builds across AWS and on-premises infrastructureSupport future expansion into GCP environmentsPerform system installation, configuration, patching, and firewall managementOwn system updates, patching, and remediation workSupport Linux-based platforms using Bash scripting and other automation toolsTroubleshoot systems and assist in incident resolutionUtilize and develop proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure automation (training provided)Contribute to ongoing platform and environment improvementsWhat You BringExperience with Bash scriptingProficiency in Python or Node.js (or willingness to learn)Linux system administration (configuration, patching, server support)Knowledge of AWS services (S3, Lambda)Strong hands-on mentality and willingness to engage in technical tasksAbility to shadow and learn from senior engineersFamiliarity with installation workflows, firewall setup, and IAM tasksInterest in infrastructure automation and Terraform (training provided)Comfortable supporting administrative tasks across platform teamsWillingness to learn GCP and expand cloud skills (upskilling available)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsMotivation to develop long-term expertise in cloud and platform engineering
