Aptiv's advanced safety and user experience business unit is dedicated to creating innovative solutions that enhance the safety and convenience of vehicle systems. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Algorithm Engineer in the field of Situational Awareness and Threat Assessment (SATA) to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing Situational Awareness and Threat Assessment algorithms. This position requires team player attitude to act as individual contributor to both hands-on traditional algorithm development and lead research initiatives in cutting-edge SATA methodologies.

Your Role
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise and contribute to the overall success of our organization. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our intellectual property portfolio by submitting patents for innovative technologies and solutions. In your daily job you will:
Develop and implement innovative methodologies, and technologies for Situational Awareness and Threat Assessment modules.
Contribute to the design and development of complex software applications, algorithms, and data models to enhance Situational Awareness capabilities of our safety critical system(s).
Conduct in-depth research and analysis of emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry trends related to SATA.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technical fellows, product managers and Global Product Organization (GPO) leadership to ensure effective integration of Situational Awareness solutions into AD / ADAS systems.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Lead the evaluation, testing, and validation of SATA modules to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Identify and address technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and propose innovative solutions to improve system functionality and performance.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, and documentation to communicate market trends, research findings, and recommendations to internal teams and stakeholders.
Stay updated with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to situational awareness and threat assessment systems.
Submit patents and white papers for new findings and innovation methodologies (subject to approval from higher management and legal office).
Your Background
Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:
Master of Science Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or closely related field.
Competency in Applied Statistical Methods and Estimation Theory (Kalman Filtering, Bayesian Inference, Dempster Schafer, etc.)
Competency in Probabilistic Robotics
Competency in modern Object-Oriented Programming (Specifically C++17)
Competency in Matlab Simulink
Prior experience working in an engineering research environment
Prior experience developing automotive embedded software applications
Prior experience developing safety critical applications adhering to ISO-26262, DO-178B or IEC-61508 standards
Preferred Qualifications
A working level understanding of automotive serial data networking and vehicle electrical architecture
A working level understanding of AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive Platform software architectures
Competency and prior experience in Control and State-Observation theories
Competency and prior experience graphical robotic path planning algorithms (e.g RRT, A*, etc.)
Familiarity with the GoogleTest (Gtest) testing framework.
Prior experience working in either an ASPICE or CMMI compliant engineering development process
Competency in core Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning topics (Multilayer Perceptron and Feed Forward Networks, Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, etc.)
