**Job Title:** **AWS Cloud Engineer****Location: Hybrid, 3 days onsite in Golden Valley, MN (LOCAL MN CANDIDATES ONLY)****Pay Range: 40-50hr W2****What's the Job?****AWS Cloud Engineer - Actuary (Contract to Hire)****Position Overview**This hybrid role supports the design, deployment, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure for critical actuarial and insurance applications. The engineer will work within a regulated financial services environment, ensuring compliance, security, and operational excellence. The position is contract-to-hire, with strong potential for conversion based on performance.**Work Arrangement**+ Hybrid: 3 mandatory onsite days/week for collaboration, mentorship, and compliance alignment+ 2 optional remote days/week+ Location: Golden Valley, MN (local candidates only)**Engagement Details**+ Start Date: ASAP+ Duration: 3 months with goal to convert to full-time+ Conversion Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 + 10% AIP target**Key Responsibilities**+ Implement and maintain AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Lambda) supporting actuarial tools, customer portals, and data platforms+ Support senior engineers in building Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation+ Monitor AWS resources and troubleshoot performance/access issues aligned with SLAs+ Participate in CI/CD workflows for internal applications and automation+ Contribute to documentation for audits, incident reviews, and regulatory compliance+ Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance teams to enforce tagging, access controls, and resource standards+ Continue building cloud knowledge through mentorship and structured training**Required Qualifications**+ 2+ years minimum of professional experience in AWS cloud engineering or DevOps+ Foundational understanding of core AWS services+ Basic experience with Linux or Windows servers in secure environments+ Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)+ Understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls, DNS)+ Experience using Git or similar version control tools+ Strong motivation to learn cloud engineering in a regulated industry**Preferred Qualifications**+ Hands-on AWS experience through labs, projects, or internships involving regulated data or enterprise security+ Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC technologies+ Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and pipeline automation+ Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker) or serverless architecture+ Background in application development (.NET / Windows) in a DevOps capacity+ Prior financial services experience**Soft Skills & Team Fit**+ Comfortable in a regulated, slower-paced financial services environment+ Strong attention to detail for audit and compliance requirements+ Good communication skills across cross-functional teams+ Willingness to ask questions, learn from senior engineers, and operate proactively+ Analytical mindset with methodical troubleshooting ability+ Reliable, consistent, and accountable+ Cultural fit with a small team+ Desire for long-term growth and team contributionIf this is a role that interests you and you'd like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
