Engineering Co-Op (UCCS)

DescriptionPosition at Samtec, IncSamtec is seeking an Engineering Co-op at our Colorado Springs, CO location. Please only apply if you are a student currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field at a local University.The schedule would be a minimum of twenty hours per week. Hours may vary but are flexible, ideally support is needed from M-F 8AM - 6PM. Pay is $22.00 per hour. Co-ops are eligible to participate in our student program for tuition assistance. They may also opt to participate in Samtec's 401k plan.The co-op will work at the Colorado Springs, CO facility with various managers and areas within our engineering department in order to gain exposure to the different aspects of engineering. The position will be responsible for completing assigned projects, building trust within team members, maintaining customer focus, as well as initiating and following up on actions taken.The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to work with and take direction from senior engineers, be creative, passionate, and resourceful while taking initiative to explore new solutions to the issues they are presented with.The student will be exposed to and expected to learn the basics in the many different technologies used at Samtec. These may include but are not limited to the following:3D / Parametric part and tooling designFinite element analysisProgressive stamping of copper alloys and other metalsMetallography, metrology, and statistical analysisStress and force calculationsDimensional, electrical, and force analysis equipmentFailure analysis including SEM, mechanical cross-section, etc.Reflow solderingAutomated and hand assembly equipment and processes including those employing vision technologySignal integrity regarding high speed electrical signals and their applicationRapid prototypingMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours while maintaining a full-time course load.You must be available to commit to a minimum of 3 semesters.Co-ops are required to maintain a C grade or above in all courses to maintain status in the program.Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S."The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position.
