We\'re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team as we transform our on-prem system into a modern hybrid IoT/cloud platform. In this role, you\'ll work across edge devices, cloud services, and the application layer to build reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. You\'ll design and implement new platform capabilities using Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS services, contributing directly to how data flows from on-prem hardware to cloud-based applications. Responsibilities include:Duties Include:Building and improving our cloud platform and the services that support our product ecosystemDesigning and building reliable data pipelines and integrations, ensuring durability, low latency, and secure data handlingLeading the modernization of legacy components while introducing new capabilities that support long-term scalabilityCollaborating across engineering and product teams to align technical implementation with product and business requirementsEstablishing standards for observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing across production systemsImproving deployment and operational workflows through better provisioning, configuration management, and monitoringIdentifying and eliminating operational bottlenecks, helping the platform increase resilience, automate recovery, and reduce manual interventionTaking ownership of product and feature delivery, developing and releasing in a manner that increases deployment frequency, reduces cycle time, and failure rateDriving continuous improvement of reliability and performance across APIs, services, and frontend integrationsProviding technical leadership for other engineers, ensuring their contributions are meaningful to our delivery so that they grow as developersRequirementsBachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or related fieldStrong communication skills, and be able to work closely with both technical and non-technical parts in the organization while always increasing clarity and reducing ambiguityAbility to act with autonomy and self-direction while working well in a team environmentStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to break down the development of products and features into manageable, iterative releasesExperience with troubleshooting and debugging complex systems across multiple layers of the stackComfortable working in an evolving technical ecosystem, improving legacy codebases while guiding the platform through modernization and incremental migration toward modern patterns6+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on building web applications with Node.js and TypeScriptPossess a deep understanding of the fundamentals: HTML, JavaScript, HTTP/S, client/server architecture, state management, and security principlesHigh proficiency with React, Vue, or other Single Page Application (SPA) technologiesFoundational knowledge of REST API developmentExperience with SQL and NoSQL database design and optimizationUnderstanding of distributed system communication patterns, including asynchronous messaging, data pipelines, and event-driven workflowsExperience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (e.g., SQS, SNS, Kafka, WebSockets, or similar)Ability to reason about system reliability, fault tolerance, and resilience in production environmentsFamiliarity with logging, metrics, tracing, and observability best practicesFamiliarity with integration and unit testingStrong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and Linux OS environments.PreferredExperience in K-12 education technology or a related fieldExperience with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and computer networkingStrong understanding of security protocols and best practices in software developmentExperience designing or maintaining distributed systems, especially those spanning on-prem and cloud environmentsExperience with IoT platforms or concepts (e.g., AWS IoT Core, device shadows, edge computing, or similar)Familiarity with hardware-software integration, device provisioning, or embedded system workflowsCompensation and Benefits:Salary wage is negotiable based on skill level and experience.
