The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience designing and troubleshooting custom robotics systems from the ground up and at scale. They enjoy analytical problem solving and possess practical knowledge of robotic design, fabrication, assembly, and rapid prototyping. They thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and have led the development of complex electro-mechanical systems.Key job responsibilitiesWork with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testingOwner of the detailed design and performance of a robotics designWork with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth product launchWrite functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test proceduresExhibit role model behaviors of mechanical engineering best practices, thorough and predictive engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownershipDesign and adaptation of holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringKnowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assembliesExperience leading the mechanical detailed design of electro-mechanical systemsHands on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypesThorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and ability to apply them to product designOrganizational skills and the ability to work well with teamsExperience communicating concepts to leadership and writing technical documentsExperience working in a fast-paced agile environmentExperience with full lifecycle developmentExperience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systemsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to productionExperience with the project management of technical projectsExperience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volumeKnowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis toolsMaster's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalentExperience launching a product at scaleDemonstrated experience collaborating with Electrical and Controls engineersProficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5Experience designing and debugging tooled (sheetmetal, cast, injection molded, etc) componentsProficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO'sAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
