ASRN - Acute Care House Supervisor
Overview: This role involves coordinating nursing care during scheduled shifts, focusing on patient and family-centered care within a supportive and professional environment. The position emphasizes adherence to nursing standards and ethical guidelines, ensuring high-quality care and effective leadership on the unit. Key Responsibilities:Manage nursing personnel and coordinate service activities during assigned shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care aligned with organizational policies.Collaborate with other shifts to maintain continuity of care and assume charge responsibilities in the absence of unit leadership.Oversee nursing staffing functions, including arranging and approving staffing levels, managing overtime, and addressing critical vacancies while considering budget constraints.Coordinate resource distribution, special orders, and document all activities and decisions throughout the shift.Ensure compliance with emergency preparedness, infection control, hazardous waste management, and regulatory standards such as OSHA and HIPAA.Utilize bed management systems to communicate patient flow status and coordinate emergency surgeries as needed.Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, nursing research, and event documentation.Conduct patient satisfaction rounds twice per shift, addressing concerns such as call light response, privacy, and noise levels.Facilitate patient placement based on clinical and demographic factors, focusing on patient experience and wait times.Respond to emergency codes and rapid response calls, communicate significant patient condition changes to physicians, and document care and unusual events appropriately.Promote patient safety through education and use of safety tools and techniques.Support professional growth by mentoring colleagues, participating in professional organizations, continuing education, and shared leadership activities.Maintain excellent customer service standards, promote ethical behavior, and foster inclusion and diversity within the team.Education and Experience:Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable.Two to five years of hospital experience, including leadership roles.Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and PALS.Proficiency with computer systems is required.Licensure: Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the regional nursing board.Work Shift: Fourth shift (overnight).
