Job SummaryPosition: CDOC Architect I (Colorado Springs)Location: Colorado Springs, COSeniority: Mid-Senior LevelEmployment Type: Full-timeJob Function: Design, Architecture, and Information TechnologyResponsibilitiesConceive, develop, and detail new construction and maintenance projects.Advise project representatives on problem resolution.Lead design teams by reviewing schematic, design development, and contract documents to ensure compliance with program and budget.Provide quality assurance for new project requests to ensure design consistency with department guidelines and legislative intent.Develop and maintain Facilities Master Plans and site office master plans.Prepare requests for qualifications/proposals for professional services.Coordinate end user requirements with the department's strategic plan.Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsCurrent, valid license as an Architect by the Colorado State Board of Licensure.Ability to function independently and excel in critical thinking, decision making, and complex problem solving.Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.Strong written and oral communication skills.Excellent attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's or master's degree in Architecture or related field.Direct experience assessing facility conditions and identifying maintenance activities.Experience negotiating project specifications and preparing financial documents and budgets.Experience interpreting ADA Title II and developing operating strategies.Additional RequirementsMust be 21 years of age and possess a valid, non-restricted Colorado driver's license.High school diploma or GED required.Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States.Equal Opportunity Employer StatementColorado Department of Corrections is an equal opportunity employer and an affirmative action employer.
