Guidewire Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Guidewire Solution Engineer to lead the design, configuration, and implementation of Guidewire enterprise solutions for insurance carriers. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the Guidewire platform, strong insurance domain knowledge, and proven experience driving solution discovery, architecture, and implementation activities. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, consulting expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to help clients maximize business value from Guidewire investments.Roles & ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, and implement Guidewire enterprise solutions for Property & Casualty insurance carriers.Serve as a trusted technical advisor to business and technology stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and solution design discussions with business and technical teams.Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable Guidewire solution designs.Configure and customize Guidewire applications using Guidewire best practices and platform capabilities.Design and implement integrations with external systems using Guidewire APIs and integration frameworks.Develop custom solutions using Gosu, Java, JavaScript, SQL, and related technologies.Provide technical leadership and guidance during architecture reviews, design sessions, and implementation activities.Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to deliver successful solutions.Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, and recommend innovative approaches to improve solution delivery.Support Agile delivery teams and participate in sprint planning, design reviews, backlog grooming, and release activities.Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and maintainability requirements.Mentor development teams and promote Guidewire development standards and best practices.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise application development.Significant experience implementing and configuring Guidewire enterprise applications for insurance carriers.Strong knowledge of Guidewire architecture, configuration, integration patterns, APIs, and platform capabilities.Hands-on development experience with: GOSU/Java/SQLStrong object-oriented design, analysis, development, and testing experience.Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale solutions within the insurance industry.Strong understanding of insurance processes, regulations, and business operations.Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and integration challenges.Experience working within Agile development environments.Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and consulting skills.Desired QualificationsExperience leading Guidewire discovery, inception, and business value workshops.Strong consulting background working directly with insurance clients and business leaders.Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter implementations.Proficiency in additional technologies such as: C#/.NET/Python/TypeScriptExperience with Guidewire Cloud implementations and cloud-native architectures.Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted software delivery.Experience conducting solution assessments, roadmap planning, and modernization initiatives.Guidewire certifications are highly preferred.Prior experience leading large-scale digital transformation programs within the insurance industry.HCL is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, religion, sex, color, age, national origin, pregnancy, sexual orientation, physical disability or genetic information, military or veteran status, or any other protected classification, in accordance with federal, state, and/or local law.
