Project ManagerWe're looking for a Project Manager (PM) who is familiar with the processes involved in bringing a customer's design to life within an injection molding business. The PM will be involved with project inception, capital and tooling sourcing, establishing critical measurement methodologies, coordinating sample shots/materials/inserts, and scheduling. The PM will also be a point of contact for the life of the project. Working with suppliers and customers will require tact, resourcefulness and a working knowledge of Company policies, practice and procedures.This position directly reports to the Plant Manager.Coordinate with Sales after order receipt to ensure all customer information is received in a timely fashion.Determine whether to source tooling design in-house or to outside supplier to meet schedule.Determine whether to source tool build, repair or major revision work in-house or to outside supplier to meet schedule.Determine whether to source design and/or build of secondary in-house or to outside supplier to meet schedule.Ensure the ordering of any required capital equipment is integrated into the project schedule.Ensure that the critical dimensions and methods of measurement are all identified and agreed to early in the projectCoordinate any required meetings from feasibility through pre-production; insure people come with appropriate information; make follow-up assignments to people.Schedule molding machines for sampling with maximum noticeSchedule ISIR with maximum noticeEnsure required sample material and inserts are available when neededAuthorize all rework to tools no work is done without the PM's oversightUpdate and publish project schedulesCommunicate promptly with management when there is a risk of a project being lateManage the project budgetRecommend when a tool should be accepted by manufacturingPrimary contact with customer during project lifeProvide input for improvements to the project management systemBe aware of Customer Focus and it's meaning; participate in Customer Focus team activities if required.Responsible for placement of tooling, auxiliary and automation equipment with effective purchasing and cost guidelines; maintain promised dates at a quality level that is acceptable to TPM and it's customersAssist other TPM plants with project management oversight as requiredPerform other tasks as assigned.The Production Cell Leader bears the responsibility of adhering to the Company's Health & Safety Program, encompassing compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, regulations, standards, and Company Health & Safety policies. A safety-oriented mindset is imperative for all employees.This position requires the following minimum education qualifications:Degree in engineering or specialized training preferredPossession of effective verbal and written communication skills.This position requires the following minimum work experience qualifications:Minimum of 5 years in mold making, design, plastic manufacturing and project managementProficiency in navigating Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and EpicorMold making techniquesHuman relations conversing with customers and suppliersTool pricing, estimating and structuringProduction techniques and tool designBlueprint interpretationReporting and scheduling procedureMaterial characteristics (i.e. tool steels and plastic resins)Metrology methods and proceduresAutomation and assembly techniquesMust be able to stand, walk and sit throughout the shift and/or perform combination throughout the shift.Be able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor and/or elevated surface below head level when neededBe able to operate pallet jack to move loaded pallets weighing up to 625 poundsPerform office tasks involving sitting/standing at a deskA commitment to being a collaborative team player.Capacity to manage various tasks concurrentlyNote: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position.
