Apply via Dice today!Job Title: Steam Turbine EngineerPay : around $60/hrDuration: 6+ monthsLocation: 7030 Gentry Road Calipatria California 92233Purpose of PositionThe Sr Steam Turbine Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of major rotating equipment including steam turbines, cooling water pumps, and injection pumps. This role provides technical leadership, oversees maintenance programs, and serves as the owner s representative for mechanical projects.Primary Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesAdhere to, support, and enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and proceduresResponsible for the proper maintenance and maintenance of main steam turbines, cooling water pumps and injection pumps to include development of written job scopes and procedures to complete major inspections on turbines and generatorsIdentify spare parts and verify stock of critical partsCoordinates the repair of turbine rotors and turbine partsHave reliability, predictive and preventative maintenance activities completed for the major rotating equipment. This includes vibration analysis, lubrication analysis and thermography.Recommend major work activities for critical equipment during major overhaulsResponsible for failure analysis program, coordinates investigationsWrite technical portion of contracts to be performed on rotating equipmentServes as owner s representative for capital and expense mechanical projectsProvide technical leadership to staffProvide technical input to assist in development of project planningPerform Additional Responsibilities As Requested Or AssignedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have bachelor s degree in engineering from an accredited university engineering programA professional engineering license is recommended to be considered for the senior levelSeven to ten years of experience and knowledge of steam turbine operation, maintenance and repair, power plant engineering, business/financial and contractual mattersExcellent communication skills are required to interface and communicate with all employees, superiors and vendorsAbility to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrentlyAbility to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, blueprints, schematics and process and instrument diagramsCapability of writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manualsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, the general public and employees at all levelsCompetent in giving oral and written instruction that is understandable by allMust be able to make clear and precise decisions in critical situations (accident sites); make clear and precise decisions if environmental problems should occur and be able to evaluate safety/environmental concerns and develop a procedure that complies with CalEnergy Operating Corporation proceduresMust have the ability to use technical skills to focus ideas onto substantial projectsMust show a willingness to learn, as well as to clearly communicate complex ideas and concepts to those with less technical backgroundMust be able to meet physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, working in confined spaces, and tolerating extreme temperaturesA valid California driver s license is requiredA California professional engineering license is preferred
