Job Description And Duties
Are you seeking a leadership role in the field of environmental justice and community outreach and engagement? The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has an essential and dynamic career position available in our Office of Environmental Equity (OEE) that will align with your business acumen, career goals and managerial skill sets. The OEE Public Participation Manager Supervisor I is responsible for leading, coaching and overseeing the work of a diverse and dynamic, multi-disciplined team performing community outreach and engagement, and networking in diverse, disadvantaged and marginalized communities throughout Southern California.
Manage, train, coach, and guide staff in the performance of community relations, outreach, public participation, and community engagement functions.
Organize and coordinate the activities of the OEE Cypress Unit, including, but not limited to, initiating and managing workload, establishing expectations and goals for the unit, monitoring progress, and analyzing communication and outreach effectiveness.
Provide expert consultative services to the Department's Core Program management teams on the public participation outreach and engagement activities associated with the most complex sites.
Serve as the OEE liaison for Departmental project teams, and workgroups providing guidance, information, and participating in discussions and solutions to ensure decisions are made in a timely manner while establishing and maintaining an environment of collaboration, trust, and belonging.
Coordinate with other organizational program staff, responsible parties, consultants, Environmental Justice community groups, networks and organizations, and key stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications We Look For
Experience in developing, coordinating and executing Public Outreach and Engagement plans and associated activities.
Strong written and oral communication skills and experience.
Experience in facilitation, presentation and/or teaching.
Experience working with Environmental Justice communities and principles.
Background/experience related to analyzing and conducting work according to mandated policies and procedures, time management, proficiency with computer skills, effective communication skills, and working with the public.
Experience working collaboratively with internal project teams.
Project management experience.
Experience working with diverse, disadvantaged and marginalized populations.
