Millwork Tooling and CAD Technician

Millwork Tooling and CAD Technician This position will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing tooling and templates used in custom millwork production. Ensures all cutting tools, knives, and profiles are designed, ground, and maintained to meet exact specifications for consistent quality. Essential Functions Create and adjust tooling profiles using AutoCAD or similar CAD software. Build and maintain templates for production runs. Grind, sharpen, and maintain cutting knives, cutters, and tooling to precise specifications. Maintain accurate records of tooling, drawings, and templates. Collaborate with production and sales teams to ensure profiles match customer specifications. Support operators in proper tooling setup and changeovers. Conduct quality checks to verify tooling precision and product consistency. Manage tooling inventory and coordinate sharpening/replacement schedules. Maintain clean, organized tooling and template areas. Assist with training related to tooling setup and safety. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software. Strong understanding of millwork tooling, cutterheads, and knife geometry. Excellent attention to detail and measurement accuracy. Working knowledge of lumber materials and profiles. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with machine operators and production supervisors. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years experience in mill or woodworking manufacturing. Machinery experience with a moulder, planer and rip saw Familiarity with dust collection and safety systems. Experience in process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives. Work Environment This job operates in a combination of manufacturing and yard environments in our San Antonio facility. Mill team members typically work 40 hours/weeks.
