The Tool Room Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, constructing, and managing tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and related equipment used in manufacturing operations. The role ensures tools are available, functional, and meet production and quality requirements for production within Toyoda Gosei Texas (TGTX).Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform tooling setup, maintenance, and repair, including troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.Construct, repair, and maintain tools, dies, molds, and fixtures using manual and CNC machining equipment.Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to fabricate or modify tooling and machine parts.Inspect and test tools, dies, and equipment to ensure proper function and identify defects.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tooling and support production goals.Document maintenance and repair activities and maintain accurate tool inventory records.Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during all tooling activities.Modify machines to adjust speed, material feed, or cutting paths as needed.Support process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality.Track tool lifeDrive optimization by being actively engaged in continuous improvement efforts (kaizen)This role requires the completion of other duties as assignedRequired Education, Experience, and SkillsCertifications and EducationBachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent years of experience is requiredExperience1 to 4 years of experience in tool room operations or a machinist environment is requiredProficiency in Manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDM)Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of safety protocols and proper tool/machine handlingUnderstanding of metallic materials, cutting tools and machining processesExperience with dimensional metrology, including GD&TExperience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is preferredPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
