Job Description
The Communications Assistant contributes to the accomplishment of NATIVE HEALTH’s Communications Department practices, objectives, and operations to provide a community-oriented, high performance culture that promotes NATIVE HEALTH’s mission and goals ensuring community and agency involvement.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assist the Communications and Community Relations Director in providing a community-oriented, high-performance culture that promotes NATIVE HEALTH’s (NH) mission and goals in all facets within the community, both internally and externally.
Assist the Communications and Community Relations Director in executing organizational outreach activities.
Assist in ensuring that the agency is allowing for community involvement through in-house promotional events.
Assist in connecting the community to NATIVE HEALTH for promotional events.
Observe administrative duties, including monthly reports, preparing materials for meetings, etc.
Host and support Native Talk Arizona.
Supports the organization as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma required. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Two years of experience working in an office setting, preferably related to public health or health work is required.
Able and willing to work weekends and evenings as needed and requested. Evening and weekend hours as needed. Flexible schedule required.
Able to lift and move at least 25 pounds.
Standard Employment Requirements
Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain a valid card while employed with NATIVE HEALTH.
Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
Must obtain a First Aid/CPR Card within (90) calendar days of employment and maintain a valid CPR Card during employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proficient typing ability.
Proficient with computer based applications such as MS Office, Adobe, donor/promotion database software.
Experience performing data entry.
Experience performing office operations.
Must be organized.
Skilled at multi-tasking.
Must have excellent proof reading and writing abilities.
Ability to perform a number of office duties as required by the employer.
Familiar with and ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to effectively function as a team member as part of NATIVE HEALTH.
Must be an effective communicator.
Willing to assist other departments for the advancement of NATIVE HEALTH.
Must be willing to work in a fast paced environment.
Culturally competent; able to work with a diverse workforce and client population.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be professional in demeanor, dress, and presentation.
