ESTILL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATIONADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION - 7263JOB DESCRIPTION: School NurseQUALIFICATIONS:Licensed Nurse.Minimum two (2) years experience, preferably working with children ages3 through 18.REPORTS TO: Superintendent or DesigneeJOB GOALS: To provide required health services for students preschool through twelfth grade and to perform necessary health services as noted below or as required by local policy or state statutes; and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Attends work daily, being in prompt attendance, and remains on duty as specified by the Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee.Provides basic triage for the school children for acute/minor health problems in the school setting.Provides outreach and follow-up through correspondence and telephone calls to parents/guardians of students.Provides oversight and coordination of care with health care providers for children who have individual health plans.Contacts parents/guardian/court when schools determine that a student is not in compliance with health regulations.Completes all reports required in the health area.Checks compliance of all schools concerning the health area.Participates in OSHA updates for school staff.Coordinates flow of information between students' physicians and school staff when necessary.Assists in management of medical emergencies.Supervises health services/related services to special education students.Provides training to staff for particular health needs of special education students.Attends Admission and Release Committee meetings when requested by the Director of Special Education.Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
