School Nurse - SY 25/26 CGMS (11374)

The job of School Nurse is done for the purpose/s of overseeing the individual health needs of students; overseeing immunization compliance mandated by state law; implementing health care plans directed by physicians; ensuring district health care practices comply with the laws relating to student health issues; providing appropriate immediate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students; serving as a health care resource to teachers, staff, and administrators; conducting mandated health screenings and identifying health problems for referral to appropriate parties for proper follow up treatment and working with population of well students to maintain health and wellness.Essential Functions:Administers first aid, medication and specialized medical treatmentAssesses situations involving students' safety, abuse (physical, sexual, drug) and other health related issuesCollaborates with parents, students, health care providers, and/or other agenciesConducts programs and/or activities, e.g., health screening, etc.Develops and maintains health care plans, medical emergency cards, emergency care plans, records, e.g., mandated screening, chronic illness, etc.Implements school health care plans and emergency care plansMaintains contact with parent/guardianParticipates in 504 plan accommodations with staff and students when a medical issue is involvedParticipates in a variety of meetings, workshops and seminars, including Individual Education Plan for students with health care needsParticipates in District programs designed for data recording and recording initiativesPerforms home visits and/or hospital visitsPrepares a wide variety of written materials, e.g., quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, internal audits, etc.Provides staff training on a variety of health related subjects, e.g., CPR, universal precautions, disaster preparedness, child abuse, health education, etc.Refers clients to agencies which assist with obtaining glasses, hearing aids and medical needsRefers families, students and staff to community agencies that improve quality of life and health, e.g., Kids Care, WIC, etc.Refers students requiring further medical attentionReports students with contagious diseases as mandated by local public health authoritiesResponds to emergency situations and/or evaluates need to activate local EMS - 911Works as part of the crisis management team at individual sitesPerforms other related duties, as assignedCommunity College and/or Vocational School degree with study in job related area. Testing as required by State Board of Nursing.Registered Nurse License/CPR Certificate.Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.Salary: RN $47,840; BAN/BSN $50,009
