Data EngineerLocation: Columbia, MO or Kansas City (Onsite)Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (9–5)About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer to take ownership of a growing data platform within an innovative, engineering-focused organization. This position offers significant autonomy—ideal for someone who thrives in an environment where they can make decisions, take initiative, and directly influence the future of data architecture and analytics.What You'll DoOwn the Data PipelinesManage automated data ingestion and replication into the cloud data warehouseMonitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and handle schema evolutionIntegrate new data sources as business needs growOwn the Platform ArchitectureDesign, maintain, and evolve cloud-based data warehouse architectureEstablish best practices for data layering (raw → staging → modeled), naming conventions, and performance optimizationEnsure scalability across multiple business unitsOwn the Data ModelingDesign and maintain dimensional models (fact and dimension tables, star schemas)Partner with Finance, HR, and Operations stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutionsDeliver high-quality data structures that support accurate, decision-ready reportingEnsure Data Trust & ReliabilityImplement data quality checks, testing, and validation frameworksMaintain clear documentation and data lineageEnsure stakeholders have confidence in reporting accuracyWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsStrong data engineering fundamentals, including SQL and PythonExperience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelinesHands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery preferred; Snowflake, Redshift, or similar acceptable)Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworksUnderstanding of layered data architectures (raw, staging, modeled)Knowledge of dimensional modeling and star schema designExperience with ELT/replication tools (e.g., Fivetran or similar)Ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into data solutionsComfortable working independently and owning technical decisionsNice-to-Have SkillsExperience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler, Secret Manager)Experience integrating ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista) and HCM platforms (e.g., Workday)Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version-controlled data workflowsExperience optimizing data warehouse cost and performanceExperience in construction, engineering, or operations-driven industriesWhy Join UsBe an early contributor to building data and AI-driven solutions in a high-impact industryTake full ownership of a modern data platform with real decision-making authorityWork closely with business leaders to deliver meaningful, real-world outcomesJoin a team focused on improving safety, efficiency, and innovation through dataWork EnvironmentOnsite, collaborative team environment in Columbia, MO or Kansas CityStandard business hours with a strong focus on teamwork and ownershipJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, MO.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $145000.00/yr.Health, Vision, Dental, ESOPWorkplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Kansas City, MO.Application DeadlineThis position is anticipated to close on Jun 26, 2026.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
