Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented General Manager/Accountant to oversee financial operations and management functions within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in both accounting principles and managerial leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial strategy implementation. Duties
Manage employees and operations
Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Conduct cash flow analysis, bank reconciliations, and budgeting to support organizational financial health.
Ensure compliance with SOX, LIHTC regulations, securities law, governmental accounting standards, and other relevant legal requirements.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial tools for accurate bookkeeping and reporting.
Prepare regulatory reports and assist with auditing processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
Lead financial report writing and interpretation to inform strategic decision-making by executive leadership.
Manage payroll processing and related tax filings with experience in tax regulations.
Develop financial forecasts, perform variance analysis, and support budgeting initiatives.
Mentor junior staff or team members in technical accounting practices, including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger management.
Support organizational growth through financial analysis related to private equity investments or other funding sources.
Qualifications
Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP, GAAS, or other relevant standards.
Expertise in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of SOX compliance, securities law, governmental accounting standards, and technical accounting principles.
Strong background in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation (including bank reconciliation), journal entries, and balance sheet management.
Experience with regulatory reporting requirements and auditing processes.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic planning.
Demonstrated leadership skills with mentoring or supervising finance teams or staff members.
Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll and corporate finance.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation.
Strong understanding of financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, forecasting, budgeting, private equity considerations, and accrual accounting practices. This position is integral to maintaining the financial integrity of our organization while providing leadership that fosters a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement in our financial operations.
