LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established and growing manufacturing organization in the Triad area of North Carolina to identify a Cost Controller. This is a key hire within the finance team, supporting inventory accuracy, cost accounting, and financial reporting in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing accounting combined with hands-on experience managing inventory and month-end close processes. This opportunity offers strong visibility to leadership, the ability to influence processes, and a collaborative work culture at an organization that is on an impressive growth trajectory.Cost Controller – Key ResponsibilitiesLead inventory accounting activities, including costing, valuation, and related journal entriesOversee month-end close responsibilities tied to inventory, including reconciliations, cost of goods sold analysis, and revenue tie-outsAnalyze raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods balances to ensure accuracy and proper valuationPartner with operations and finance teams to maintain clean and reliable inventory data within the ERP systemMonitor and investigate discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actionsSupport financial reporting through detailed analysis of sales, margins, and cost trendsSupervise and mentor cost accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and accuracy standardsManage and support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation to the general ledgerAssist with internal and external audit requests by preparing supporting schedules and documentationIdentify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and strengthen internal controlsContribute to special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as requested by leadershipQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field10+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on inventory or cost accounting within a manufacturing environmentDeep understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and COGS analysisHands-on experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliationsERP system experience (manufacturing systems preferred; Epicor is a plus)Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manipulate large data setsStrong analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilityProven ability to work cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and finance teamsPrior leadership or supervisory experience is a plusCPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred but not requiredBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, term life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness plans, and a 401k plan or a non-qualified deferred compensation plan.
