CNC Machinist / Operator - 2nd Shift

CNC Machinist / Operator - 2nd Shift Job Title: CNC Operator Department: Manufacturing Reports To: Shop Foreman (Supervisor) Summary: Sets up machines to produce precision parts within set tolerances in a time effective manner. Maintains and monitors the quality of the machine products by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepares and warms up machines by turning them on and running the warm-up program.* Monitors and maintains coolant and oil levels of machines.* Cleans out chips and debris from machines for preventive maintenance.* Inspects tools and last off parts visually and replaces as needed.* Inspects work piece with precision inspection equipment to maintain quality of product.* Troubleshoots and solves problems by working through solutions to ensure quality and efficiency and to reduce cycle time.* Prepares machine for second shift and ensures a smooth transition by checking tooling, fully inspecting parts, cleaning out machine, and checking fluids.* Responsible for setup of new jobs by gathering necessary tools and fixtures for specific jobs, assembling these components in the machine, and watching first run to ensure machine is performing correctly & runs machine.* Sweeps, mops, and cleans machine & around shop when needed. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blue prints or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as feeds, speeds, conversions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; and CAD/CAM and be able to read G & M Code as well as edit the programs when necessary. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related setup and operating experience in a machine shop; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
