EHS Specialist

Job Description EHC is currently looking for an EHS Specialist for a client in the south Houston, TX area.Job Summary:The EHS Specialist is responsible for leading all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs at our headquarters distribution facility. This role focuses primarily on safety leadership, regulatory compliance, and injury prevention across operational teams, while maintaining working knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to an industrial distribution environment.Requirements:Lead and manage all safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable state regulationsOversee environmental compliance efforts consistent with standards from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local agenciesConduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementationMaintain OSHA 300 logs and manage required regulatory reportingPerform routine safety audits, job hazard analyses, and facility inspectionsDevelop and deliver safety training for supervisors and warehouse personnelEnsure compliance related to powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, fall protection, hazard communication, PPE, and emergency preparednessOversee waste handling, spill prevention, and environmental documentationTrack and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near misses, corrective actions)Supervise and develop the EHS CoordinatorPartner with operations leadership to promote a strong safety cultureQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred7+ years of EHS experience in industrial distribution operationsStrong working knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety programsWorking knowledge of environmental compliance requirementsExperience managing regulatory inspections and auditsSupervisory experience preferredProfessional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or similar credentials preferredStrong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
