Position Title: Program Manager Department: Workforce Development Reports to: Director of Workforce Development Position Summary: The basic function of this role is to serve as lead planner and coordinator of the overall program. This position will have a strategic dual role ensuring the alignment of program goals and objectives are critically met. While adhering to program standards and regulations, this position will supervise staff providing service learning projects and who administer components of the project; provide support to staff that provide support to youth participants placed in temporary work placements. Monitor and develop training and education modules for outcomes and manages employer relationships for placement and marketing strategies for the project. This position is responsible for the frame work of the program and all aspects of program implementation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Direct and manage project development from beginning to end Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear manner Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or resources and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during the project cycle Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel Identify and resolve issues and conflict within the project team Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools Track project (resident) milestones and deliverables Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation and presentations Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crisis and work with Director to devise contingency plans Communication Facilitates team, client and interdisciplinary meetings effectively Holds regular status meetings with project team Keeps project team well informed of changes within the project and general news Effectively communicates relevant project information to Director and other key participants via conference calls and in person meetings Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully Coordinate with collaborative partners to identify discrepancies, barriers and problem areas in order resolve and troubleshoot problems Possesses general understanding in the areas of application programming Understands and utilizes internet, intranet and power point presentations Professionalism and Work Conduct Behaves with integrity, demonstrates high ethical standards, and displays a positive image of UCAN Acts in a professional manner at all times and maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and staff Demonstrates accountability for results and keeps commitments to others Reports to work, meetings, training, and job related activities prepared and as scheduled Demonstrates openness and respect for cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and coworkers Understands and supports UCAN’s standard of cultural proficiency and strives to meet it Performs other related tasks as required or assigned Teamwork/Leadership Possess strong leadership skills in order to inspire team members to attain goals and pursue excellence Identifies opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change. Manages the process of innovative change effectively Remains in touch with emerging tools and programming that may help to add success to the project Build collaborative relationships with associates and service providers to facilitate program improvements Model solution focused problem solving skills and work to empower and lead associates to do the same Education /Job Experience/Certification: Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Business or related field; Masters Degree Preferred One year of Supervisory experience in the field required Basic computer software experience (word, excel, etc) Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Special Knowledge and Qualifications: Demonstrated teamwork skills Strong sense of responsibility and orientation to detail necessary Strong communication and writing skills (presentation) required and able to multi-task Experience working in impoverished communities and/or housing developments Experience working in youth and/or employment projects Automobile and valid Illinois driver’s license At UCAN, we prioritize the health and well-being of our team, as it is essential to our mission of serving the community.
