Human Resources Generalist

Position Function SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.Essential ResponsibilitiesReviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment, training, professional licensure, and certifications.Initiates and/or processes job vacancy postings; develops and/or edits job descriptions, vacancy announcements, and position advertisements. Ensures that job postings are posted with external agencies as well as to all departments within the organization. Advises hiring managers/supervisors on interviewing procedures of job vacancies.May be involved in reviewing, screening applicants for Hiring Leaders. May facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Tracks status of candidates in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.Conducts or acquires background checks, reference checks, credentialing, and eligibility verifications.Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Reconciles benefits statements.Performs verification and on-line entry of source documentation into HRIS, if available, or payroll system ensuring data integrity and completeness.Interacts with payroll specialist and controller to ensure that new hires and/or contractual paperwork is complete according to payroll requirements, and received in timely manner to meet payroll deadlines.Facilitates and assists with internal and external records audits as appropriate.Analyzes specified employee data and generates periodic and/or ad hoc summary reports, as appropriate; may conduct special projects requiring the gathering and processing of information and the preparation of statistical summaries and/or written reports.Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.Assists with preparation of the performance review process.Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Director of HR.Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.Files documents into appropriate employee files.Assists and prepares correspondence as required.Prepares new-employee files.Processes mail.Performs other duties as assigned.Leave BenefitsFour (4) weeks of annual leaveup to two (2) weeks of sick leaveup to one (1) week of continuing education leaveEight (8) paid holidays and four (2) days for personal leaveaccruals and holidays are prorated for part-time employeesInsurance BenefitsMedicalDentalVisionavailable for staff and eligible family members, including domestic partnersPaid term life insurancePaid Short Term DisabilityOptional LifeCritical CareMedical and Dependent care expense accountsHealth Savings Account403(b) retirement savings plan (eligible for company match after 12 months of employment)Bargaining Unit PositionUnion:Non-Union: XLa Familia offers opportunities for employment in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, health education, and other support services.
