CNC Grinding Machinist - 2nd Shift (HEDG / Precision Grinding)

At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in finishing complex components to tight tolerances using high-efficiency deep grinding (HEDG) and other precision grinding processes. The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: Set up and operate CNC grinding machines in a precision aerospace environment Perform high-efficiency deep grinding (HEDG) and other grinding operations Machine components to tight tolerances and exact specifications Make program edits, offset adjustments, and tooling changes as needed Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and work instructions Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, and verniers Perform in-process inspection to ensure part quality and compliance Work with exotic materials including Inconel, Rene, and other aerospace alloys Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve machining and quality issues Machines, Controls & Software You'll work with equipment such as: Machines: CNC grinding machines, including HEDG and precision grinding equipment (Campbell grinders and similar) Controls: Fanuc and other CNC control systems depending on equipment Inspection Tools: Micrometers, depth gages, height gages, verniers, and other precision measuring tools Materials You'll Work With Inconel Rene alloys Titanium Stainless Steel Other aerospace-grade materials What We're Looking ForRequired 3 years of CNC grinding or machining experience Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills Experience working with tight tolerances Ability to use precision measuring tools Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment Preferred (Not Required) Experience with HEDG or precision grinding operations Aerospace manufacturing experience Experience machining exotic materials such as Inconel or Rene alloys Familiarity with Fanuc controls Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose Barnes Aerospace because: Stable aerospace manufacturing programs Opportunity to work on advanced grinding processes Modern equipment and structured production environment Competitive pay with 15% shift differential Opportunities to expand skills in precision machining Strong team environment and engineering support Pay, Benefits & Schedule Pay Range: $26 – $38/hr (DOE) Pay Notes: 15% shift differential for 2nd shift Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance starting the 1st of the month following start date 401(k) with 50% match on the first 6% 4% retirement contribution deposited into the 401(k) plan Quarterly incentive opportunities Yearly performance bonus 100% education reimbursement after 1 year PTO: 2 weeks in year one plus 4 floating holidays Flex time program Discounted Care.com membership Discounted Calm app membership Schedule: Monday–Friday 2nd Shift | 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM Overtime available Apply Interested machinists can apply directly through hireCNC.
