At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in machining complex parts on VTL and lathe equipment, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with aerospace standards. The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: Perform complex setups and operate CNC and/or manual VTL and lathe machines Support both production and NPI (New Product Introduction) work with minimal supervision Machine rotating aerospace components, including parts with plasma coatings and K/E seals Make program edits and process adjustments to meet part specifications Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and machining instructions Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, and verniers Work with engineering teams to optimize machining processes, tooling, and setups Detect and report machining issues, material concerns, or quality deviations Maintain safety, quality, and production standards Provide guidance and training to other machinists as needed Machines, Controls & Software You'll work with equipment such as: Machines: CNC and manual VTLs and lathes Equipment Brands: Mazak, Mori Seiki, Leblond (and similar) Controls: Fanuc Inspection Tools: Micrometers, depth gages, height gages, verniers, and other precision measuring tools Materials You'll Work With Inconel Titanium Stainless Steel Aerospace-grade alloys Coated aerospace components (plasma coatings, K/E seals) What We're Looking ForRequired 3–5 years of machining experience in an aerospace environment 3 years of experience setting up and operating VTLs and/or lathes Strong math skills and understanding of GD&T Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets Experience machining tight-tolerance components Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Ability to work in a team-based manufacturing environment Preferred (Not Required) Experience machining plasma coatings and K/E seals Experience with Mazak, Mori Seiki, or Leblond machines Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) Willingness to learn CNC programming Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose Barnes Aerospace because: Stable aerospace manufacturing and repair programs Opportunity to work on complex rotating components Modern equipment and strong engineering support Competitive pay with 15% shift differential Team-driven environment focused on quality and precision Opportunities to expand skills and grow within the company Pay, Benefits & Schedule Pay Range: $26 – $38/hr (DOE) Pay Notes: 15% shift differential for 2nd shift Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance starting the 1st of the month following start date 401(k) with 50% match on the first 6% 4% retirement contribution deposited into the 401(k) plan Quarterly incentive opportunities Yearly performance bonus 100% education reimbursement after 1 year PTO: 2 weeks in year one plus 4 floating holidays Flex time program Discounted Care.com membership Discounted Calm app membership Schedule: Monday–Friday 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Overtime available Apply Interested machinists can apply directly through hireCNC.
