Think of us as the travel buddy who handles the logistics while you focus on what you do best helping people heal.Roles & ResponsibilitiesProvide compassionate, high-quality pre-op and post-op nursing care for ambulatory and inpatient surgical patientsPerform thorough pre-op assessments and patient education, including medication reconciliation and consent verificationMonitor patients in Phase I PACU and Phase II recovery using cardiac monitoring, ETCO2, and serial assessmentsManage advanced airway needs, assist with intubation support, and care for ventilated patients as requiredAdminister and monitor procedural sedation, IV therapies, blood product administration, and reversal agents safelyRecognize and intervene for dysrhythmias and other acute changes — act quickly and communicate clearlyStart and maintain IVs, manage PICC lines and ports, and support chest tube and fresh tracheostomy careCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Pharmacy, Respiratory, PT, Radiology, Social Services) to optimize patient outcomesEducate patients and families on discharge instructions, follow-up, and recovery expectationsQualificationsActive Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state licensure required)Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required; ICU or ED experience preferredCurrent BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferredProficiency with Epic charting system (Epic experience required)Demonstrated skills in airway assessment, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and cardiac monitoringComfort with procedural sedation monitoring, interpretation of ABGs, and arterial line care (preferred)Knowledge & SkillsPre/post-operative patient care and discharge instructionPhase I PACU and Phase II recovery managementConscious sedation, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), general anesthesia familiarityAirway management, intubation support, and ventilator patient careIV access skills: start/maintain IVs, PICC care, phlebotomyCardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition/management, arterial line basicsChest tube management and interpretation of ABGsFamiliarity with a wide range of surgical cases: general, gyn, ortho, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmologyBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental & vision coverage to keep you and your family healthyPaid time off so you can actually take that beach or wine-country weekendLicensure assistance & reimbursement to help keep your credentials currentSupportive team environment with interdisciplinary backup (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Work)Dedicated orientation (40 hours) and pre-approved time-off policy to help you settle inProfessional development opportunities and access to ongoing educationA workplace that values work-life balance — predictable day shifts with scheduled float opportunitiesA collaborative setting where your skills in PACU, Phase I/II, and perioperative care are celebratedTravel Perks: Explore Petaluma, CAPetaluma is a charming gateway to Sonoma County wine country — enjoy farmers markets, local eateries, and a walkable historic downtown.
