Details Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on Pulmonary and GI patient populations Adult and geriatric patient population with a daily unit census of 27 Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 Hospitalist-run PCU; no ventilated patients on this unit Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM Every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block may be required Floating within skillset required CNA support is not always available Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Prior PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown experience required Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care Experience administering cardiac drips (non-titrating) Respiratory support experience including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management Familiarity with rapid response/code team protocols and isolation precautions PDF copies of Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration Two professional references required for consideration Additional Information 703-bed acute care facility; the region's only Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated for nursing excellence, and affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine Certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with advanced specialty and dedicated children's hospital services Must work one holiday during the 13-week contract All time-off (RTO) requests must be submitted at the time of application Local candidates are accepted First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-686949.
