Prevention Specialist

Our work is personal, using lived experiences, proven services, and human connections to help people right here in our community.As a prevention specialist, you'll provide services in Dubuque, Delaware, Jones and Jackson counties, with your home base being at our Dubuque location. ASAC's prevention services team offers a variety of programs and activities to assist communities, schools, workplaces, and organizations to address substance abuse and gambling issues to help the individuals and families live healthier, safer lives.Key Duties:Provide information on substances to all sectors of the community, including schools, faith-based groups, community and civic organizations, law enforcement, government, and others utilizing public speaking, written materials, and all media available for the benefit of the agency.Collaborate with and create strategic alliances with various groups and key stakeholders using the Strategic Prevention Framework to ensure sustainability of prevention programs.Collect, analyze, and share local community trends and data related to substance use in order to guide and direct prevention services.Implement the prevention strategies of information dissemination, education, alternative activity support, environmental change, community-based process, and problem identification and referral with fidelity and cultural considerations.Evaluate prevention programs and utilize outcomes to improve services.Maintain strict confidentiality, in accordance with HIPAA and 42CFR.RequirementsQualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, preferably with experience in substance abuse service or related human services area. Incumbent must be willing to obtain the Prevention Specialist Certification from the Iowa Board of certification within 18 months of date of hire. Candidates with group facilitation and public speaking experience are preferred. This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass an extensive background check.Salary and BenefitsASAC offers competitive compensation. This role starts at 22.71 per hour with additional compensation provided for candidates with extensive experience.
