Procedure-Focused GI Locum: Weekend Coverage Weekend 24-Hour Call Coverage | Approx. 1???2 Hours from Lightfoot, VAJanuary???June Coverage We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterology Physician for a locum tenens role to provide dedicated weekend coverage in Virginia. This is an essential, procedure-heavy position requiring a skilled professional to manage both inpatient and outpatient GI needs on an on-call basis. The facility utilizes the Epic EMR system and has on-site lab/X-ray services. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive adult gastroenterology care in hospital and clinic settings. Perform approximately 8 procedures per weekend across GI, Hepatology, and Surgery specialties. Expertly perform advanced procedures including: ERCP (Mandatory Expertise) Upper/Lower GI Endoscopy (Colonoscopy, Esophageal Dilatation) Liver Biopsy Therapeutic interventions (e.g., foreign body removal, biopsy). Requirements Board Certification in Gastroenterology (Mandatory). Active, unrestricted Virginia Medical License. Proven proficiency and expertise in ERCP. EUS proficiency is preferred. Current flu shot required; COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred. Clean malpractice history. Mandatory availability for scheduled weekend shifts (Friday 5 PM to Monday 7 AM). Estimated 90-day credentialing period.
